It’s long sooooo….
Nik looked out of the window at the house he’d grew up in. It seemed smaller now, everything seemed smaller now. After the long trip head taken, he realized how big the world was and how insignificant all his problems and worries really were.
He runs his hand through his thick, curly hair and steps out of the car. The uber driver follows suit and helps Nik getting his bags out of the trunk.
“Have a nice night, man.” The uber driver smiles before stepping back into his car and pulling off.
Nik takes one long big breath and head towards the door.
Two years, two long years had passed since he stepped foot in this house, hell since he had been in this country. He had a lot on his mind and he just needed to get away from everything that was familiar to him.
He pulls his keys out of his pocket and and sticks it into the lock. He tries twisting the key but it just stays put. He frowns in confusion and tries again only to be left with the same result.
He looks around the front porch and finds a small hidden hide a key that resembles a rock. He opens it and sticks that key into the door. The door opens with no problem and Nik enters the house. He drops his suitcases off near the stairs and heads to the kitchen for a drink of water.
Not soon after, he hears the patter of feet coming down the stairs. He looks towards the stairs and sees his father standing guard in front of his mother, his father his holding a baseball bat and looking at all areas of the foyer.
“It’s just me… Everything is fine.” Nik steps into his father’s view.
Both his parent’s faces turn from scared to a state of shock.
“Nikolas, min älskling. Var har du varit? Mår du bra?“ His mother pushes pass his father and hugs him tightly.
“Yeah, I’m fine… I just needed to get away. I’m fine.” Nik hugs her back but shakes his head away from her hands when she rubs his face.
Nik’s father steps of the last stair and walk over to him.
“You’ve been gone for two years. You didn’t call or text once, to let us know you were okay. You just left and now… You come in and say everything is fine and that’s it? We’re supposed to be okay with you disappearing for two years.” Nik’s father’s voice is deep and coarse.
“I was fine… You could have seen that if you didn’t cut off my credit cards.” Nik snaps back.
“You did what, Nathaniel?” Nik’s mother’s attention is turned onto his father.
“So you think… That you should be able to just do whatever you want with no consequences?! You think that you should be able to spend money that doesn’t belong to you without even giving notice that you’re leaving the country, Nikolas?!” Nate spat.
“Okay… Well, I swear it won’t happen again. I’m going to bed, I had a long flight.” Nik sets his glass of water down on the counter and steps towards the stairs.
“No!” Nate growls. “If you can’t give us the human decency to let us know you’re okay. If you don’t care about us we can’t care about you… You can’t stay here.” The words leave Nate’s mouth before he has time to stop them.
“What?” Nik scoffs. “And where am I supposed to go?” Nik looks at his father and back at his mother who looks like a deer in the headlights.
“Wherever you want. Isn’t that what you did before? We can’t stay up constantly worried about someone who doesn’t give a damn about us.”
“Nate…” Elsa shakes her head.
“No, Elssie… He was fine before, he’ll be fine now.” Nate adds.
“Are you really doing this right now?” Nik looks down at the floor and closes his eyes. “I left because my entire life turned to shit… In a matter of months! I needed to get away from everything because if I didn’t who knows what would have happened? You think I wanted to stay here and wander around this house, knowing that you’re mad and disappointed that I threw away my one chance at playing pros? Do you think I wanted to stay in this city and think about all the places I took Bella and how she’s gone. How we lost a baby before we even had a chance to see it? I wasn’t gonna sit here and fall into a deeper depression that I was already in. But it’s all good. I get it, Dad. Just like every other time in my life, doing shit for myself is only okay when it’s ran by you first, right?” Nik steps up to his dad and grabs his suitcases.
Nate doesn’t even respond he just walks back up the stairs to his room.
“Nikolas, Just give him time to cool off…”
“Elsa!” Nate yells, stopping Elsa’s sentence.
“I love you…” She gives Nik a kiss on the cheek. “I’ll call you when he calms down, okay?” She runs up the stairs.
Nik rolls his eyes and walks out of the house.
(This is kinda shitty and nothing like I wanted it to be kinda but yeah… this is why Nik and his parents haven’t talked.
Thank you for the starter bby.)
