The days had passed, some slowly, most just a blur. She woke and showered, most days, and went to work. Her phone battery died quickly with how much she looked at her phone – either to see if there was a message or to type one out, only to delete it moments later.
If she’d been asked she’d tell you she had no idea how long it had been but she knew. She knew because every night as she relearned how to sleep alone it was torture. For every morning she had to adjust to waking up without Rorey breathing sleepily onto her neck, it was nearly unbearable.
The box sat with the lid propped up against it. She had managed to slowly fill it with anything that had romantic indications. She left the friendly pictures up, she could handle that for now. Rorey’s clothes however, were another story. They were piled on one side of Colbie’s bed and that’s where they stayed unless she was wearing one of them.
“Tomorrow” she’d told herself every day but there was always a reason that she couldn’t. Derby training, derby, she was busy at Crumbles, she didn’t think she could handle seeing Rorey..”Maybe I don’t have to. It’s pointless anyways, not like she’s reached out. So it’s already done on her end anyways.” She spoke to herself in the the shower. “We had fun and I.. I was dumb and falling.. at least this way I didn’t fall all the way.. this is better anyways, maybe we can salvage our friendship down the line.” Then again, they’d never really managed to be regular friends and she wasn’t sure why she felt the need to convince herself.. She was doing the right thing…Wasn’t she?
